The sixth day of ๐—ก๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ถ also known as ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ต๐˜๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ถ, this day is associated with ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜†๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ. Born to sage Katyayana, she is an incarnation of Durga. Known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Devi. In this avatar, Katyayani rides a lion and has four hands. She is a form of Parvati, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati.
According to the Vamana Purana, she was created from the combined energies of the gods when their anger at the demon Mahishasura manifested itself in the form of energy rays. The rays crystallized in the hermitage of Kฤtyฤyana Rishi, who gave it proper form therefore she is also called Katyayani or “๐˜ฟ๐™–๐™ช๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง ๐™ค๐™› ๐™†๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™ฎ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™–”.
