In a few days, the sun of New Year 2023 will rise with new hope and determination. On the eve of the new year, it is my habit to figure out what was lost and gained during the passing year.

Recently someone forwarded me a video clip on WhatsApp in which Jaspal, a renowned motivational speaker from India, was speaking about growth, progress and success in the context of the modern business corporate world.

Traditionally, as soon as December, the last month of the Gregorian calendar, starts in Europe and Western countries, preparations for Christmas begin to gain momentum.

After completing my five-day tour to Australia, I have now landed in Karachi. In my 50 years of life, I have visited numerous countries across the world, including the US, Canada, and several European countries.

The move to celebrate Hindu Heritage Month in Canada has reminded me of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s famous speech which he delivered on August 11, 1947 in which he assured that all Pakistani citizens, regardless of their socio-religious backgrounds, would have equal civic rights and opportunities to uplift the newly-established country.

The 12-day Sharjah International Book Fair successfully concluded in the UAE on November 13. A large number of award-winning authors, writers, novelists, intellectuals, artists, creators and other well-known personalities from across the world participated in the event.

Every year on November 10, Turkey holds Ataturk Remembrance Day to mark the death anniversary of the founder of the modern Turkish state and the first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Pasha.

I am grateful to all my family members, friends and relatives who expressed their best wishes on my 50th birthday on November 1. Birthdays carry special importance for people. This day reminds them that a person, who was born in a state of helplessness and as a weak child, was once entirely dependent on parents and society to survive. With time, the child grows up and becomes capable of making his/her life decisions.the festival of lights, was celebrated in a very unique way in the open sea of Karachi, and the ancient Manora temple, submerged in darkness for a long time, was lit up with beautiful lights.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone. For the first time in the 75-year history of independence, Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated in a very unique way in the open sea of Karachi, and the ancient Manora temple, submerged in darkness for a long time, was lit up with beautiful lights.

Chief Buddhist Monk of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand Most Venerable Arayawangso has returned to his homeland after spending a three-month religious ritual in the Pakistani historic city of Taxila. The spiritual leader was staying along with followers at Taxila for the past three months performing a Buddhist religious ritual that begins in the rainy season every year.

In my previous column, I had highlighted that the recent visits of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to the United States were very beneficial in terms of resolving misunderstandings and bringing both sides closer.
