Pakistani Hindus to celebrate Independence Day with full zeal


Mirpurkhas (Aug 7, 2016): Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has demanded to acknowledge the positive role of minorities during the Pakistan Movement and latter to contribute the society being the citizens of Pakistan.

While delivering his keynote speech, on the occasion of Dharmik Quiz Competition organized for the Pakistani Hindu Children, Dr. Ramesh Vankwani said that providing religious education to the minorities, according to their beliefs, is the core responsibility of the state, and thus, must be included in the curriculum of schools.

“Today, the enthusiasm of Hindu Children participants prove that the future of Pakistan is bright,” Dr. Ramesh said, while asking the Pakistani Hindu community to celebrate the Independence Day with full zeal. On the occasion, he announced to organize such cultural events every month at district level. In the end of the year, Pakistan Hindu Council will organize a mega event in which top three prize winners of quarterly contests will be invited where hundreds of Hindu children across the country will participate, he further said.

He said that the white portion in the Pakistani flag represents peace while the green portion represents all citizens of Pakistan including minorities, adding that the constitution of Pakistan guarantees to provide religious freedom to the minorities. Dr. Ramesh Vankwani also emphasized that Quaid-e-Azam in his address to the Constitutional Assembly had ensured the minorities to live according to their religious beliefs. He urged that the teachings of all religions ask their followers to respect other religions, which is essential for a peaceful society.

The Dharmik Quiz and Speech competition, was organized by the Pakistan Hindu Council, for children of Hindu community for awareness of Hindu religion. This is the 3rd programme this year in the quiz series, followed by Karachi, and Hyderabad. On the occasion, cash prizes and appreciation shields were also distributed among the participants, belonging to more than 200 Children along with their families.
